Substructuring - IMAC Focus GroupSubstructuring concepts have received increasing attention in recent years because they have the potential to dramatically reduce the computational cost of analytical models. Experimental-analytical substructuring may allow one to avoid modeling difficult subsystems altogether by representing them with experimentally derived models instead. The Substructuring Focus Group is responsible for organizing sessions, tutorials and panel discussions related to both analytical and experimental-analytical substructuring. Efforts are also underway to plan a round robin test and coordinate research in this area.
The slides for a tutorial on dynamic substructuring, given by Daniel Rixen during IMAC XXVIII, are available below. Tutorial on Substructuring by Daniel Rixen, IMAC XXVIII, Feb. 2010 IMAC XXVIII also included a panel discussion where six experts discussed current challenges and promising technologies for experimental/analytical substructuring. Each panelist gave a brief overview of these issues to launch the discussion and their slides are posted below.
